Glossary of Student Cities
Our SU Online students come from all over the world. Let's build a glossary about the amazing cities that you are all from!
Add an entry to this glossary for your city. It can be the city you grew up in, the city you currently reside, or your favorite city. Please follow these directions:
- Concept: Your concept should be titled "City, Country" or "City, State, Country." For example: Paris, France or Chicago, Illinois, USA
- Description: Describe your city in a few sentences. Is your city large or small? Located on the water or high up in the mountains? What is your city known for? Why do you love this city? Add a photo of your city to your description.
- Keyword(s): Add the state and country to the keywords so that others can search entries by state and country.
- Attachment (optional): Add a word document with additional information about your city.
Look at the Chicago, Illinois, USA entry by Molly Kelsen (test student) for an example.

Belgrade, Montana USA | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Belgrade is in the high desert of southwestern Montana. We are six miles from Bozeman known for being the home of Montana State University and a fast growing city. Belgrade is known as "the bedroom community of Bozeman". A lot of people work in Bozeman but live in Belgrade as it is cheaper to rent or buy a home here. Although Belgrade is located on a plain, an ancient lake bed, it is juxtapose to the beautiful Bridger Mountains which makes it a gorgeous place to live. | ||||
Lowell, Maine, USA | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Lowell is a tiny town of 300 people, very rural. We have a beautiful new town hall that incorporates our volunteer ambulance and fire departments. They are open 12 hours per week! The nearest stores and gas stations are 12 miles away. I have lived here for 19 years and love the peace and elemental life surrounding our home! | ||||
Prescott Valley, Arizona, USA | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Prescott Valley, Arizona, is a small city of approximately 40,000 population, located in the mountains of Northern Arizona. It is a great place to retire as the weather is mild yet we enjoy four seasons. We are adjacent to Prescott, AZ, which is called the Christmas city. We have beautiful, holiday festivities with many visitors from the Phoenix area. A bit North of us, in the Flagstaff area, there is skiing and winter sports. | ||||
Tucson, AZ | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Tucson Arizona, a city of about 800,000, is located in southwest Arizona, about an hour from the U.S. Mexican border. It is in the sonoran desert and known for prolific wildlife and year round greenery. Surrounded by several mountain ranges on all sides, I think it is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen. Along with the sunny weather, people from Tucson are friendly and outgoing. Although a recent downtown renovation added some interesting things to do for urbanites, the natural beauty and abundant opportunity for outdoor activity is what most appeals to me. Livingston, Montana: USA | |||

This Park County seat an hour north on 89 S from the Teton Ranch headquarters is a great challenge besides the Yellowstone river beauty gracing the valley with mountains on all sides. My son graduated from high school here & lives in Billings, the largest city of the state one and a half hours off 90W to the East with family I can see at times, so I love opportunity here in this small city with many Keepers past & present one can see sporadically & by God's grace, a glorious future for all. | |||

Emigrant, Mt. USA | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
Emigrant is located halfway between Livingston, Mt. and the Gardiner entrance to Yellowstone, National Park. It is a small town with one store, one gas station, a saloon, a bank, a post office, a gift store, a laundromat and a few restaurants. Although it might at first appear insignificant, because of its location on highway 89 people traveling to Yellowstone Park stop on their way. There are flashing orange lights alerting travelers to slow down as they approach Emigrant. To the left is the store and theYellowstone River and to the right is the post office and bank and Story Road leading up to the residential community of North Glastonbury. I love to come home and see Emigrant peak towering behind the town, and although it is small, we have everything we need and it peaceful. | ||||

Сибай, Башкортостан, Россия | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
My town Sibay is located in the foothills of the Ural Mountains, in the southern part of Russia. The forest-steppe zone perfectly combines the lush greenery of the trees, the smell of steppe grasses and the architecture of the city itself. The city is known for its deep copper and sulfuric ore quarry, which is currently closed. And also the Gadelsha waterfall. The city has a developed network of educational and cultural institutions. And the townspeople themselves enjoy gardening. A video has been filmed about the city, which can be viewed here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o93tOiFygug Hope you enjoy it! | ||||
